Training

• Border Collies taken in for training. Send your dog to have training from an experienced trainer to establish a solid foundation in your dog.  Basic training takes between 4 and 8 weeks
  
  Shepherding Experience
• Come and experience a shepherd's way of life on the hills of Carcant farm
  We offer you a unique opportunity to experience real life shepherding for you and your dog.  Working in a practical situation, gathering sheep, taking them in pens to sort and tend.  This will give you and your dog a real idea of the bigger picture for why sheepdogs are needed. In  return it gives you and your dog a opportunity to develop sheep sence.  We will offer you this chance in summer and autum, but booking is essential as there is limited availability. 
  Booking can be from one half day to max of three half days.
  
  Tuition
• Assessments
  Assessments given on both working dogs and pet dogs.  Find out your dogs ability, understand how to manage his ability and where to progress with training, together with reading your dogs body language to understand what he is telling you.  Learning to analyze your dogs nature so you can communicate and deal with any problems.
• Private lessons
  We offer half hour and one hour lessons for beginners to advance. Teaching on a one to one basis
• Clinic
  We host two clinics a year, one in end of June and one in the end of Oct.  Internationally renowned trainers will teach you and your dog. Enjoy the hospitality and learn from expert trainers. Three to four day clinic, 20 minute, morning and afternoon training session with the opportunity to watch and learn from other handlers.  Snack lunch included with time to discuss training.  Share social evening meals if you wish.
  Private group clinics available by appointment.
  
• Guidance
  Is for those handlers that are able to work on their own with their dog after been assessed by us acknowledging that the dog is under good enough control to work the sheep in a suitable manner.
  Guidance will be given for 10 minutes followed by 20 minute practice time on the sheep.  Giving the handler and dog that valuable time alone working out any issues given in guidance.
• Demontrations
  Working demonstrations: see dogs in their working enviorment.
  Educational demonstrations:  watch and learn how the development in the training of a border collie progresses throughout a sheepdogs life.  Showing how communication to the pup is a very important part of the pups development in to adolesence and how important it is to get the basics right and mutual respect.  Starting the young dog and the skill needed to assess your own dog so that training can progress.  Showing each stage of training that young dogs go through before finally showing the fully trained dog and how we commuinate with each other.
  Booking a demonstration is advisable although demos can be given on short notice.
